Fitzrovia Radio Hour

@ LPAC 7.30pm, Tickets £12.50 / £10.50

Recreating the unique spirit of 1940’s radio plays, and brilliantly evoking a dinner-jacketed age of casual imperialism and stiff upper lips, The Fitzrovia Radio Hour tours fresh from three critically acclaimed London residencies, and a sell-out Edinburgh Festival run.

Performed with cut-glass theatricality blending homage and satire, Fitzrovia mixes the chauvinist attitudes of 1940s Britain with sharp contemporary humour to produce a heady comic cocktail. Throughout the plays, sound effects are created live: a Bakelite hairdryer imitates a heating torch, a desk fan becomes an aeroplane, and multiple types of cabbage help to stage a fight scene. Rippingly good fun!

‘Absolutely spiffing show…. A Joy.’ **** DAILY TELEGRAPH
‘Dramatic entertainment redolent of a bygone era. Jolly good show, chaps!THE GUARDIAN

SEANN WALSH – Ying and Young ‘Howlingly funny’ - Chortle

‘A solid gagsmith with a disarming presence’ – The Independent “…funnyman SEANN WALSH had the crowd in stitches with his memories of fixing video tapes by blowing in them…” – The Sun

Following last year’s sold-out Brighton Comedy Festival debut, rising comedy star Seann Walsh presents an all-new hour of razor-sharp observational comedy .

Charming and charismatic, a natural born observational storyteller, Seann is one of the most frighteningly precocious talents to emerge from the UK comedy circuit in years.

Seann will be performing his brand new show Ying and Young at the Lincoln Comedy Festival and can also be spotted on numerous UK pavements in a drunken, slumbering heap mumbling Chinese philosophy.

Seann’s recent TV appearances include: Mock The Week (BBC2), 8 Out Of 10 Cats (Channel 4), Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow (BBC1) and Stand Up For The Week (Channel 4).

Within two years of his first comedy performance Seann became the winner of the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year.  Shortly after, other accolades included Chortle Best Breakthrough Act Nominee 2010 and Chortle Best Compere Nominee 2011.

Seann has also been listed as one of DAVE’s top 10 stand-ups to catch in 2011. Seann’s total sell-out 2010 debut solo Edinburgh Fringe show, ‘I Would Happily Punch Myself In The Face’ received rave reviews across the board.

‘…a gifted observational comedian…a well rounded, accomplished performer…undoubtedly a star in the very near future.’ – The Scotsman
