Mike Newall’s Get Better Box
Can we dictate happiness or is life just a series of good and bad luck? A self confessed idiot reflects on a topsy-turvy year with stand-up, stories and the rediscovery of his ‘Get Better Box’, something created as a child to keep happy memories.
Mike is an excellent storyteller with a laid back style and a sharp eye for the funny in everyday situations. This is a story of discovering his ‘Get Better Box’ (something Mike created as a child) whilst moving house in difficult circumstances last year and how its contents including diary and notebooks of his years in a catholic school, photographs, a clipping from a proud sporting occasion, an old radio and some old school porn sneaked in under the radar of parents, have all left Mike pondering happiness and how much say in it we actually have.

Peacock & Gamble: Emergency Broadcast
We have all been at a show that goes wrong. Actors can forget their lines, technicians can miss cues, or a lion can get in the room and go mental. But there has never been, until now, a back–up show waiting in the wings, ready to leap in and save the day (and kill the lion). Step forward Ray Peacock & Ed Gamble (
Russell Howard’s Good News,
Peacock & Gamble Podcast) with their ramshackle, seat-of-the-pants, emergency comedy night.
Chortle Award Nominees 2011.
“Unfettered roars of laughter” The Guardian.

Henning Wehn
5pm

Surely the German Comedy Ambassador will never find a more subtle show title than last year’s ‘My Struggle’. Well, he’ll die trying. Come along. Or else. Deutschland über alles!
In the last year, Henning has been heard numerous times on BBC Radio 4’s ‘The Unbelievable Truth’, ’The News Quiz’, ‘Now Show’ and BBC Radio 5 Live’s ‘Fighting Talk.’ He has also recently presented BBC Radio 4 Specials ‘Monty Python’s Fliegender Zirkus!’ and ‘Erich Honecker’s Rock ‘n Roll Years’. Later this year he records his very own 6 part series for BBC Radio2 and makes his first appearance of BBC TV’s “QI”.
2010 marked Henning’s Edinburgh solo debut with ‘My Struggle’. For the previous four years he enjoyed critical success and three Fringe sell-outs with Otto Kuhnle (winner of the Malcolm Hardee Award 2009) in ‘Abracadabra – German Humour Goes Global’, ‘1000 Years of German Humour’, ‘A Beginners Guide To German Humour’ and ‘Four World Cups and One World Pope’.

Red Herring Festival Special
Seymour Mace

Seymour Mace is one the comedy circuit’s original thinkers. With a uniquely skewed view and quirky delivery style he can make you laugh just from a shrug of the shoulders or turn of phrase. A favourite of the Red Herring Comedy Club bookers for years and a not to be missed act.
Chris Turner is relatively new to the circuit and in 2 short years has been a finalist in the prestigious BBC New Comedy Awards 2011 and So You Think You’re Funny 201o competitions. With a deliberate deadpan delivery and already some of the most quotable gags on the circuit his star is definitely going to shine in the coming years.
Mike Newall is a laidback Manc with some fine material delivered with a wry smile and precision timing. A self confessed idiot he delves in to his everyday experiences to create the real life funny.
MC Phil Ellis’ natural and instantly likeable style has proved a hit with audiences around the UK. His quick thinking and ability to work in the moment ensure every show is unique and set up perfectly.
